S.O.D.
"Serving Others Daily"
Serving Others Daily, or "S.O.D.," is a
mission outreach inspired in the heart of FBC church member
Bill Halstead in 2010.
The purpose of S.O.D. is the spread God's love through
positive actions in hope that non-believers will come to
salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
The program teaches troubled young adults and
Christian youth how to be productive through the guidance of
mature Christian adult mentors, and it helps feed the
physically hungry.

Through S.O.D., Christian adult mentors teach young
adults how
to grow a garden. This is not intended to be at the
local church, but can include all church groups that spread
the Good News that Jesus Christ died to pay the sin debt for
all mankind, arose from the grave defeating death, and
ascended into Heaven with God the Father.

Mature Christian believers are invited to join Bill in
this mission project. Vegetables from this garden are
donated to local food pantries (Christian Community Cupboard
in Hurricane, Christ Kitchen in St. Albans, and Huntington
Food Bank) to help feed needy families and
individuals.

In 2010, approximately $4000 worth of produce was raised
in Putnam County and donated, and several young men
(many on parole), were able to learn to garden while
interacting with Christian mentors.
As of
03-17-2012, a donation of a
plot of land (half acre to an acre) for this mission project
had not yet been secured. If you would like to donate land for
this project, please contact Bill Halstead at 304-417-3458.
