The
Christian Community Cupboard (CCC or "Cupboard") is
a ministry of the Teays Valley Ministerial Association (TVMA).
The Cupboard was organized in 1982 by the churches that
comprised the TVMA.

The Cupboard is located in Hurricane, WV at 2843 Virginia
Avenue adjacent to the back parking lot of Forrest Burdette
Memorial United Methodist Church. (Click here
for Google maps satellite image). Volunteers are asked
to park in the back parking lot.

Its mission is to provide temporary relief for needy
families by providing food, cleaning, and toiletry items for
clients who register with the Cupboard and are seeking
assistance. Lately, the Cupboard has been helping on
average over 300 families each month.

Each Tuesday and Friday morning, the Cupboard attempts
to provide an emergency three-day supply to anyone who meets
the Federal low income guidelines and lives south of the
Kanawha River in Putnam County. All applicants must disclose
source of income and furnish proof of residency.

The Cupboard receives funding from various churches in
the area, donations from businesses and community
organizations, and from many individuals. Vital support is
also provided by a variety of schools, clubs, and scouting
organizations that conduct drives for food and other
items.

Thirteen (13) churches actively work with the Cupboard
at this time. A representative of each member church serves on
the board of directors. Each church takes time working the
cupboard. Some churches provide volunteer workers for one
week, and other churches provide helpers for one month. At
this time, First Baptist Church of
Hurricane provides volunteers for the month of October.

All funding received is used to operate the Cupboard and
to purchase items to be distributed to families. However, effective
2011 the Cupboard began to incur the additional expense of
paying for utilities at the facility. The Cupboard has
never sold anything or spent any of the funding received for
fund raising activities or other
promotions.

6th, April 6th, July 6th, and October 5th. All meetings are
Fridays at 1:00PM and held at the CCC building on Virginia
Avenue in Hurricane.
Like many similar organizations, the Cupboard has
struggled to continue providing supplies and services during
these dire economic times, but God has provided as we work to
help those around us who are less fortunate.
Today there are so many worthy projects needing our
assistance and so little resources, but you can be sure that
your efforts and generosity are very much appreciated by those
who live around us and who may even go to church with you. The
Cupboard can always use your help.
